How to Get Started with MariaDB on Stargate

For this example we are going to use Gmail as a trigger and Microsoft MariaDB Database as the action. That means that data from emails sent to Gmail can be inserted into a table of your choice in MariaDB automatically.

To setup the Gmail trigger, use the information from here

To setup the MariaDB action, follow the steps below

1. Click on the New action button to create a New action.

2. Click on the MariaDB icon

3. Select New Table Row as the event

4. Select Add Account in the dropdown

5. Authorize Stargate to use MariaDB by filling in the dialog form

  • For Host you need to enter your hostname e.g.
We recommend you create a separate database to keep the data coming from Stargate for security reasons.
  • For Port enter the port. The default is 1433 for MariaDB
  • For Username enter your username and append your hostname to it separated by a @ character.
e.g. If your username is MYUSERNAME then enter MYUSERNAME@myhostname where myhostname is what you entered as the first part of your hostname above
  • For Password enter your password.
Important: Make sure it is a very strong password
  • For Schema enter an optional schema or leave it blank.

Important: Make sure your firewall allows Stargate access from the IP which is shown on the dialog

When done, click on Save and Close

6. Click on Select a Table and select a table from your database.

Note: If you do not have a table then none will be shown. You then need to first create a table in MariaDB.

7. The fields from MariaDB are shown on the right. You can drag and drop any of the trigger fields on the left and drop it in the MariaDB fields.

These dropped fields will be replaced with the real values at runtime.

8. Click on Save to save the fields on the server

9 Click on Test this step.

Important: All of the steps on the left must have a checkmark otherwise the Stargate will not switch on. The checkmark is obtained when the test for the step is successful.

10. Finally, the fields are displayed in the Test Report

11. Switch your workflow on a the top of the page.

12. Test that it is working by sending a similar email to the Gmail and see if the record is added in your table in MariaDB Database
