To connect a trigger to Slack, you first need to set up a trigger. In this case we are going to use Gmail as the trigger. That means as soon as an email lands in Gmail, Stargate breaks it down and send the information to Slack.
Step 1: You need to click on the New action button to create a Slack action.
Step 2: Click on the Slack icon
Step 3: Select an event
Step 4: Select Add Account in the dropdown
Step 5: Authorize Stargate to use Slack
Step 6: Select who should receive the message from the dropdown.
Then enter the message. The fields from Gmail are shown on the left. You can drag and drop any of the Gmail fields on the left and drop it in the message.
These dropped fields will be replaced with the real values at runtime.
Step 7: Click on Save to save the step to the server
Step 8: Click on Test this step
Step 9: And the test report is displayed
Step 10: Now finally, switch the stargate on at the top.
Important: All of the steps on the left must have a checkmark otherwise the Stargate will not switch on. The checkmark is obtained when the test for the step is successful.
